Biography
Nicholas Reichard was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, where his journey as an artist began. It was in the Midwest that he discovered his passion for creativity, which ultimately led him to earn a BFA in Filmmaking from the Savannah College of Art & Design. However, after graduation, Nicholas took a significant turn—not just in his career goals, but in life. What started as a dream of becoming the next Steven Spielberg evolved into a desire to tell his own story through the adventures life had to offer.
One of the most pivotal moments in Nicholas’s life came during a summer in Alaska, where he worked with world-class sled dogs, training on glaciers and commuting by helicopter. This experience only fueled his curiosity and sense of adventure, compelling him to explore even more of what the world had in store. Eventually, his journey led him to the Appalachian Trail, where everything clicked into place and he truly found his path.
Over the next three years, Nicholas hiked more than 6,000 miles and captured his experiences on over 500 rolls of film. These adventures deepened his connection to the art of photography and documentary work, as he developed a body of work that reflects his unique vision of the world—one that highlights the relationship between people, nature, and the emotions that tie them together.
Today, life looks different for Nicholas. While his creative pursuits remain a core part of who he is, his focus has shifted to fatherhood and his career as a firefighter in Southern Maine. Though his path has evolved, the spirit of adventure and creativity continues to guide him in both his personal and professional life.
